Week 18

How far along? 18 weeks

How big is baby? the size of a sweet potato 🙂  5.6 inches 6.7 oz.

Total weight gain/loss: 5ish lbs.

Maternity clothes? Yes!  I have worn my preggo dark denim jeans for the past 2 days in a row.

Sleep: Sleeping GREAT!  My hubby bought me this awesome pillow…looks like this:





I know it looks really silly – but I swear its SO comfy!!  We call it my “cocoon” 🙂

Best moment this week: That surprised look on people’s faces when I tell them I’m 18 weeks along.  In my mind I feel like I”m getting HUGE – but it make me feel not so large when people seem ‘surprised’ that I’m pregnant at all.  Okay ‘huge’ may be an exaggeration, but I am def. growwwwwwwing!

Movement:  I still don’t feel anything 😦  I hear it feels like a “butterfly”…WELL, what is that supposed to feel like?  I have not felt anything yet that did not seem like digestion.  Not subtle ‘flutters’ or anything.

Food cravings: I kind of crave the bite or burn from carbonated beverages.  I don’t drink soda really – so this is odd for me.  I have been drinking sparkling flavored waters and some ginger ale too.  Other than that, no cravings really.

Food Aversions: none

Gender: We find out SOON!!  11/9 is our anatomy scan.

Labor Signs: None

Pregnancy Symptoms:  Acne  – and some moodiness.

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: clear skin…sushi…and my Express wardrobe!

What I am looking forward to: Picking out a nursery theme

Upcoming appointments/events: Anatomy scan 11/9, 3D Ultrasound later in November, Dermatologist (still deciding if I’ll go) 10/25 and regular physical was supposed to be this morning, but I missed it.

Weekly Wisdom:  Hormones are for real!

Milestones: I think I can officially say I have a bump now.  Last week had significant growth spurts in the belly…and it def. has more of a bump look than a overweight ‘pouch’ look.

Do you have any gender predictor ‘tales’ ??  I did an online Chinese lunar calendar thingy today and it says GIRL.  My sister and sister in law are predicting BOY.  Hubby says girl because he seems to think I’m crabby (although he used a different word) and that its caused from extra girl hormones in my body…. Someone posted a babycenter article the other day about finding out gender at WEek 6!!  Something to do with WHERE the placenta is attached – right or left side.  Not sure where I fall in that theory as I thought it was confusing….We’ll know for sure soon though!


A Single Child Home?

I learned a new word today!  “Onlie”….its the term used for an only child.

Obviously with family planning, the excitement and nervousness of our first baby on the way, the thoughts of a second child come in to play.  Is that something we want?  If so, is it something we need to do right after the first baby?

Oddly enough I come from a family of 5 – 2 parents, 3 children (me, my brother, my sister).  I am the youngest.  Most of my friends seem to come from families where they had siblings.  And the majority say that they cannot imagine NOT giving their child a sibling to grow up with.  I find this odd….and not a feeling that I share for myself.  While I love both my siblings and am grateful that I had them growing up, I never felt like its something I owed to my child….I feel like its only the right decision if it makes sense for OUR family.  But for some reason, I have always had a feeling that we’d be a one child family.  I can’t recall tell you why.

My husband is one of those people who is good at brining up arguments for and against any subject.  So as we have discussed the (likely) possibility of having a “onlie” he brought up some pros/cons.  I can across an article on fitpregnancy.com that talked about it… and it states that back in the day, single child families were very rare…but with today’s hard economic times, etc. it’s not as strange.  I thought it was a good article and put to rest some of those arguments against having an only child.  There are certainly things to watch out for so they don’t become too spoiled or self-centered…..but the article made me feel like it’s totally okay and nothing you should feel “guilty” about for not providing a sibling.  Some say you SHOULD give your child a sibling as a “built-in” friend….but yikes, the 18-21 year price tag on that “friend” is HUGE!!! lol…. that’s a lot of trips to Disney (or whatever will be the cool place when my kid is old enough).

Week 15

Week 15 

How far along? 15 weeks and 2 days

How big is baby? According to thebump.com and my phone app – the baby is the size of a Naval Orange.

(side note:  I have had an orange in the fridge at work for a couple days and ever since I read the size/fruit comparison, I feel weird to eat the orange as it represents my baby!!! LOL)

Total weight gain/loss: I weighed 130.2 on Wednesday.  However, I was wearing heavy wedge sandals and the Nurse refused to let me take them off!  SO I think my total weight gain is 4 lbs. at this point (Yes, I’m deducting a lb. for the shoes!)

Maternity clothes? a mix…I’m wearing dresses (regular, non-maternity)  more now so that my “pouch” is not as noticeable.  I have been wearing a pair of black maternity pants w/ the “secret fit belly” thing and while they are a little too big right now, they are super comfy!

Sleep: I sleep fine…Hubby “claims” that I snore….hmph.  Also, I keep waking up late for work.  I hear my alarm and turn it off instead of snooze, and then my body wakes up at 7 AM on the nose everyday.  7 is WAY too late as I”m supposed to leave the house by 7:15/20.

Best moment this week: When my proactive shipment came!  My face is still totally out of control and I’m freaking out about it.  I made a dermatologist appt, but its not until the end of October.

Movement: Still waiting!

Food cravings: Nothing in particular.  I can say that I am NOT a soda drink what so ever – never have been.  But I keep getting so THIRSTY that I feel the carbonation of soda will quench my thirst…plain H20 is just not doing the trick…. but since I don’t care for the taste of soda – I bought some of those flavored sparkling waters instead… Hopefully that will help.

Food Aversions: None really.

Milestones: Had the first person at work tell me that I “look pregnant”….”cute, but pregnant”.  I don’t know how I feel about that…lol

Total weight gain/loss: 2.5 lbs
Maternity clothes? Bought a few things, but still wearing mostly regular clothes
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Sleeping great
Best moment this week: Tuesday after FitClub – I felt GREAT after working out – must be the endorphins
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Alcohol – I miss having a glass of wine with dinner…..& SUSHI!!  I have had some cooked sushi – like crunchy shrimp roll and a veggie roll – but its just NOT the same
Movement: No, nothing yet.. but CAN’T wait!!
Food cravings: Carbs & savory food in general……I was so shocked at myself the other day!  My husband brought home pumpkin donuts (and I am a pumpkin freak!! love everything pumpkin) and I CHOSE my leftover steak and sweet potato to eat over the donut!  I just have not been craving sweets much which is very surprising to me!
Anything making you queasy or sick: No
Have you started to show yet: looking chubby for sure – but nothing that looks like a defined bump
Gender prediction: I can’t decide!!  Some old wives tales predict a girl based on the heartbeat 140+ and my lovely acne covered skin…..but then I took an online quiz (and those MUST be accurate! lol) and it predicted a boy!  So I’m still 50/50 on either one!
Labor Signs: No

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy if you ask me – Moody if you ask my husband

865 Fit Club – Insanity Core Cardio & Balance

If you follow me on Facebook – you know I run a FREE Fitclub each week to promote health and fitness to the community.  Also, if we’re not friends on Facebook – send me a request!

This morning’s workout was Insanity Core Cardio & Balance.  This is actually the recovery week workout that you do in between month 1 and month 2.  Its still a tough workout, but not nearly as intense and plyometric as the usual Insanity workouts.

The weekends were always the time that I am most likely to slack off on my regular workout routine, so I really LOVE that I can get together with friends and new attendees Saturday morning to workout!  It keeps me motivated and then I can spend my Saturday my workout is out of the way!!

I never got to finish the full program when I was doing it before I got pregnant.  I finished month one, and then went on vacation, and then found out I was preggers, and I never moved on to month 2.  I will definitely be adding this to my post-baby fitness calendar next year 🙂

Regardless of how simple they may ‘sound’ – why is it so scary for us?

I surround myself with like minded individuals who share the same goals and values as I do.  Sometimes we brainstorm new ideas, other times we encourage each other to get back up when life gets hard and is not going as planned.   When I started my business, I knew NOTHING about the path ahead of me.  I had no previous experience or skills….but I just learned as I went along and JUST DID IT.  One of my mentors recently shared this short video by Art Williams with me. I had never seen this video before and I was mesmerized. Holy cow. No matter what I…you…want in life, we just need to DO IT. How simple! We can’t let excuses stand in our way any longer, and we are all guilty of letting it happen.

Week 12 – LAST week of the 1st Trimester!

Week 12 – Tuesday, 9/11 to Monday, 9/17

Baby is the size of:
 A Plum!
Headaches galore!
Still dealing w/ acne
Overly Sensitive
Still ‘preferring’ carby foods like bagels, cereals, etc….
Oddly enough, I CHOSE my leftover steak and sweet potato OVER a pumpkin donut from Dunkin’ Donuts the other night.  I am really surprised how un-interested I’ve been in sweets….Not complaining – but just opposite of what I assumed it would be like 🙂
Also – I’ve been craving Shakeology as my ‘dessert’ before bed.  I usually like chocolate best, but I’ve really been wanting the Tropical as well 🙂

I grew out of my first pair of pants….My regular go-to work pants – Size 2 Express Editors in black.  Oddly enough, I still have other pants from Express (same size) that still fit (snugly)…although I have a feeling that won’t be lasting very long.
I bought my first items of maternity clothes – got 2 shirts and a dress on eBay for $3.25!!
